The kindergartners were privileged to meet with author David LaRochelle this past week. What a treat!
This week in kindergarten was a busy one for us! Here are some things we learned about: Students identified between a letter, word and sentence. Students clapped and counted the syllables in their name. Students learned three different ways to read a book: 1. Read the pictures 2. Read the words 3. Retell the story This will help students during read to self time to stay focused the whole time. During read to self time this week, we talked about building our stamina. Stamina means to do something for a long period of time without giving up. The end of the year goal in kindergarten is to be reading 20 minutes a day. We will work towards this goal slowly, starting by being focused and reading for 5 minutes. |
